Clinical Medical Assistant

This program prepares graduates for both the administrative and clinical office. This program will provide the graduate with the skills and knowledge that will enable them to qualify for entry-level positions as medical assistants. Since medical assistants are trained in both administrative and clinical procedures, they are capable of filling a variety of positions.
In recent years, the Medical Assisting profession has become indispensable to the healthcare field. Not only have doctors offices become more reliant on medical assistants, but their administrative skills are being requested by hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, as well as medical supply businesses, home health agencies, insurance companies, and pharmaceutical companies.
Labor Market Information published by the State Employment Development Department, estimates that the number of jobs for Medical Assistants is expected to grow more than twice as fast as the average because of expected growth in the health services industry. In fact, Medical Assistants is one of the fastest growing jobs in California.
This program will prepare the student for eligibility to become certified as a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA). Also, this program will prepare the student to become CPR and First Aid certified through the American Red Cross.

The Internship
This program will consist of an internship that will provide practical experience and can also serve as an avenue for graduates to become employed.
